Historic JT’s Grill & Gallery was established circa
1890 as C.G. Mckinney Store. Mckinney (one of the first
modern settlers) was a writer, postmaster, shop owner,
farmer and acted as a doctor delivering many of the islands’
children for 50 years.
Mckinney’s Store has evolved since that time, but has
remained the meeting place of Chokoloskee. Today we are “the
best little out-of-the-way café” in the Everglades. Our menu
is a mix of southern style recipes and Caribbean influenced
dishes with an emphasis on organics. Our elegantly tropical lunches are served
everyday.
JT's gallery showcases local artists from around the state.
Our shelves hold everything from home-made soaps and
sea salt baths to antique window paintings
and hand-crafted fine jewelry. We also keep
a selection of books by Florida authors
and on Florida subjects wider
than
any other in the area.
Stop by for lunch, join us for lunch,
or come in to browse or just relax
on our famous front porch.
It’s worth the trip.
