This 1928 Spanish-style stucco structure on Lake Placid has had many lives. It began as the old Everglades depot, was part of the University of Miami, appeared in the film Winds across the Everglades, and has housed several restaurants. Today's menu has well-prepared seafood -- from shrimp and grouper to frogs' legs and alligator. The staff is slow but eager to please. For big appetites there are generously portioned entrées of steak and fish specials that include soup or salad, potato or rice, and warm, fresh-baked biscuits. AE, D, MC, V.
